Privacy policy
Applies to the Bracely website (bracely.saurabhpagrut.in) and the Bracely browser extension. Last updated 12 October 2026.
The short version
Bracely works entirely on your device. The data you paste, type, open or create is never sent to Bracely or to anyone else.
What stays in your browser
To pick up where you left off, Bracely saves these in your browser's local storage on your own device: your recent inputs and open documents, your History list, tool settings, panel sizes, theme and background choice. You can delete all of it from About → Clear saved data, or by clearing site data in your browser.
You can also move your settings yourself: About → Export settings saves your tool settings, theme and layout to a file, and Import settings reads that file in another browser. The file holds settings only, never your inputs, documents or history.
In the browser extension you can choose to sync settings through your browser account (About → Your settings). It is off unless you turn it on. When it's on, your settings (but never your JSON, documents or history) are stored in Chrome or Firefox sync, which your browser provider keeps with your account so they reach your other signed-in computers. Bracely itself still receives nothing.
Secrets and keys you type into the JWT tool are kept only while the page is open. They are never saved and never put in share links.
What is never collected
Bracely has no accounts, no analytics, no tracking, no advertising and no cookies. It doesn't collect personal information, browsing history or usage data.
When Bracely uses the network
- The website loads its own files and three open-source libraries (CodeMirror, js-yaml and, only when you use Excel features, SheetJS) from cdnjs.cloudflare.com, plus a font from Google Fonts. Those services see a normal request from your browser, like for any website, but never your data. The browser extension includes these libraries and doesn't load them.
- Load from a URL fetches the address you type, directly from your browser. Bracely doesn't see the response.
- JSON Schema validation fetches linked schemas only when your schema refers to an https:// address.
Share links
A share link contains your data inside the link itself, compressed. It isn't uploaded or stored anywhere. Anyone who has the link can read that data, so don't share links containing secrets.
Browser extension permissions
- Context menu: adds "Open selection in Bracely" to the right-click menu.
- Storage: passes the text you selected to the Bracely tab; it's deleted as soon as it's read. If you turn on settings sync, it also stores your settings in your browser's sync storage.
- Clipboard read: lets the Paste button read your clipboard when you click it.
The extension doesn't read or change the web pages you visit.
